Bogo City IT Specialist Rodge Tonacao expressed his delight to see a 73-year-old constituent, Rotello Escanilla, hired on the spot during their BPO Job fair on January 29, 2022 at the DICT Office in Bogo City.

This is the first time Sykes Asia has partnered with DICT-Bogo City for their Work-From-Home hiring for Customer Service and technical support representatives.

Tonacao said that tatay Rotello arrived at the venue and they believed he was dropping off  his grandchild to apply for a call center job.

“We thought he was dropping off a  grandchild but it was him who was applying for the call center job. He was hired after a day of rigorous hiring process, ”said Tonacao.

BPO partylist president Mike Cubos, who promotes ICT programs in DICT and cities like Bogo, said there is no age discrimination in BPO jobs as long as the applicant is qualified.

“It’s never too late to make a career transition especially for those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic,” Cubos said.

Cubos added that they will help those who have lost jobs from the affected sectors to cross over to the BPO industry through their ongoing free call center training opportunities.
