With the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) becoming a popular tourist attraction, the Cebu Cordova Link Expressway Corp. (CCLEC) is planning to set up a Vista Center for tourists.

Alan G. Alfon, president and general manager of CCLEC, made this disclosure during the signing of the memorandum of agreement with Anjo World Theme Park for the Bridging the Fun: from North to South sales promo.

According to Mr. Alfon, a lot of CCLEX clients have been stopping at the bridge’s five laybys that can be used during emergencies. “We can’t stop them for now since we are striking a balance between enforcing traffic rules and public relations,” he explained.

Athough these areas are used only for emergency, many motorists stop there so they could take pictures of spectacular scenery at the longest bridge in the Philippines. In fact, Cebu residents and visitors have been going to the 8.9-kilometer bridge, which can be considered as an engineering marvel.

“We will soon be setting up a Vista Center. We have common open spaces. Probably, we can place a vista location to provide tourists photo opportunities where they can get best angles towards Cordova or towards Cebu City,” Mr. Alfon said.

They hope to set up this area after the full handover of the project by the contractor. “Right now, there’s still some pending items that have still to be completed so that we can go full blast in serving our constituents,” he added.

Meanwhile, starting July 1, 2022, motorcycles 125 cc and above would be allowed to pass through the bridge. Bikers and runners can also use the bridge. However, runners have to continue to the end of the bridge since they are not allowed to turn back to where they started.

Mr. Cedric Reyes, Head of Sales and Marketing for Anjo World Theme Park (standing), announces that the Bridging the Fun in Cebu: From North to South sales promotion starts on June 25, 2022 and will end on November 22, 2022.

In this connection, the Anjo World Theme Park will resume the RFID sticker installation at Belmont One in Minglanilla, especially for motorcycles. The RFID installation was suspended after typhoon Odette hit Cebu.

At the moment, CCLEX can still receive cash payments for the use of the bridge but motorists are encouraged to have their vehicles installed with RFID stickers for faster movement of vehicles.
