NNC7, CPD7 agrees to integrate RPRH in nutrition, POPDEV programs

CEBU CITY – The National Nutrition Council (NNC-7) and the Commission on Population and Development (CPD-7) agreed to integrate the promotion of Family Planning, responsible parenthood and reproductive health issues in nutrition and population development (POPDEV) programs in their respective agencies.

This was contained in a memorandum of agreement (MOA) that both agencies signed on August 11 during the 2nd and 3rd quarter meeting of the Regional Implementation Team (RIT-7) of the Responsible Parenthood and Reproductive Health law or R.A. 10354 at the Applied Nutrition Center (ANC) in Banilad, Cebu City.

The meeting was attended by 36 members from government agencies and representatives from various non-government organizations in Central Visayas.

The highlights of the agreement included the installation of the NNC-7 as the secretariat of the Regional Nutrition Committee and other technical committees and the promotion of Family Planning and empowering Filipino families through responsible parenthood stipulated under the responsible parenthood and reproductive health (RPRH) law.

It also urges NNC-7 to integrate its services with CPD7 and for the later to ensure that CPD7 programs will have nutrition consideration and objectives.

Both agencies shall share knowledge, experience, skills, data, and resources in integrating Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning and POPDEV programs to fulfill the objectives of RA 10354 and vice versa for the Philippine Plan of Action for Nutrition (P-PLAN).

NNC-7 Regional Program Coordinator, Dr. Parolita Mission and CPD7 Regional Director, Atty. Bruce Ragas signed the agreement on behalf of their respective agencies.
