Philippine Ambassador to Thailand Millicent Cruz Paredes joined Tourism Secretary Ma. Esperenza Christina Garcia Frasco in a call to advance Philippines-Thailand tourism cooperation during a bilateral meeting with Thai Minister of Tourism and Sports Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn on the sidelines of the 11th APEC Tourism Ministerial Meeting in Bangkok, Thailand on 18 August 2022.
Tourism Secretary Frasco extended the Philippine Government’s hand of collaboration to Minister Phiphat, with the goal of deepening tourism cooperation between the two countries, which have much to learn from each other. Secretary Frasco and Minister Phiphat also agreed to update and extend the implementation program of tourism cooperation to 2028, pursuant to the Philippines-Thailand Agreement on Cooperation on Tourism signed in 1993.

Ambassador Paredes lauded the Tourism Secretary’s firm commitment to start work on the renewed implementation program immediately, including opening job opportunities for Filipinos in the Thai tourism industry. The Ambassador also reaffirmed the full support of the Philippine Embassy in these endeavors, ready to assist the Department of Tourism (DOT) in the ways forward.
Ambassador Paredes further congratulated Secretary Frasco on the success of her first international official trip as Tourism Secretary, having been recently appointed by President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.
Secretary Frasco was joined by Mr. Vincent Franco “Duke” D. Frasco, Deputy Speaker and Representative of the Fifth District of Cebu; Ms. Verna Esmeralda C. Buensuceso, OIC-Undersecretary for Tourism Development; Ms. Maria Rica C. Bueno, Assistant Secretary for Human Capital Development and Industry Manpower Development; and Mr. Warner Andrada, OIC-Assistant Secretary for Tourism Development, among other DOT officials.
Ambassador Paredes welcomes Secretary and Deputy Speaker Frasco at the Suvarnabhumi International Airport in Bangkok on 18 August 2022.
