The Securities and Exchange Commission-Cebu Extension Office (SEC-CEO) signed a partnership agreement with the Philippine Information Agency-Central Visayas (PIA-7) that will further strengthen the Commission’s drive against investment scams and promotion of financial literacy among Filipinos.

On 13 September 2022, SEC-CEO Director Sheara L. Lupango-Tamayo and PIA-7 Head Fayette C. Riňen signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to bolster the SEC CApital Market Promotion and Advocacy INter-Agency Network or SEC CAMPAIGN Network.

Under the SEC Communication Advocacy Network (SEC-CAN!), partners share and collaborate knowledge and resource on fighting investment scams, financial education and other initiatives.

Through the PIA-7, a wider and efficient information dissemination will be achieved as it leads in the dissemination of information on government programs, projects and services to the public through its various platforms and its active partnership with local government units and other government agencies.

Lupango-Tamayo thanked the PIA-7 for its commitment saying “as we know that with your participation, our mission and goals are easily reached and this will redound to the benefit of the greater public in the region.”

Riňen said the PIA-7 is equally pleased that the partnership has finally been sealed adding that the agency will continue to support the Commission in all its initiatives.

Lupango-Tamayo had emphasized that education is still key to eliminating if not minimizing the number of individuals who are victimized by get-rich-quick schemes that turn hard-earned monies into nothing.
