CCCI GMM celebrates economic future of Cebu, inducts 35 new members

The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) will continue to search, test and refine promising strategies to better deliver its service goals and pursue more effectively advocacies relevant to member companies and business community of Cebu under the leadership of CCCI President Charles Kenneth Co.

This commitment was reiterated during the recent General Membership Meeting on September 28 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City. Co was inducted president of the Chamber in May this year. Since then, CCCI has designed and organized series of initiatives dedicated for the purpose of satisfying its 3-point leadership agenda.

During the meeting, PCCI Regional Governor Melanie Ng inducted 35 new members bringing the total membership to 885 including 33 sectoral organizations and 5 chamber chapters throughout the island Province of Cebu.

Ms. Chinie Defensor, Business Development Director at ENGIE, shared how ENGIE – an energy utility company focused on renewables and infrastructure supporting our customers’ decarbonization – can help Cebu transition to zero carbon emission by 2045.

“We are building today, the low carbon energy systems of tomorrow. Our purpose is to accelerate the transition towards carbon neutrality. ENGIE commits to Net Zero by 2045,” said Defensor.

ENGIE offers energy solutions that help decarbonize their clients by reducing energy consumption and greening their energy mix.

Architect Ann Marie Yap-Cuizon, Assistant Department Head of the Cebu City Planning & Development Office, shared with everyone the vision of the Cebu City Waterfront Development program.

Ar. Cuizon outlined the coverage of the Waterfront program with a span of 15,589,834.01 sq. m. encompassing 37 barangays from Kasambagan to Inayawan. Five (5) development areas were also identified for the project namely Up Land Area, Up Town Area, Mid Town Area, and two Downtown areas comprised of the Heritage Core and New Cebu Business District (CBD).

The waterfront development program aims to promote tourism by offering water sports activities and enhancing the port and passengers in coordination with the shipping industry. Moreover, this initiative includes the clearing of all structures that impede the outflow of the waterway and illegal structures extending or constructed on non-buildable areas.

Ms. May Furigay, Philippine Country Head at China Mobile International Limited (CMI) – highlighted in her presentation the upcoming project of CMI in the Philippines which is the PH Data Center Hub.

“CMI will help establish the Philippines as the next data center hub in Asia Pacific through a bilateral partnership with new IDC’s in PH,” stated Furigay.

CMI is a subsidiary of China Mobile that provides comprehensive international telecom services and solutions to international enterprisers, carriers and mobile users.
