Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu kicks off the festive season with an intimate tree lighting ceremony with the theme Tropical Holidays in Mactan. The halls were decked, as Shangri-La’s executive committee, government officials, friends from the corporate and media sectors, as well as in-house guests gathered to continue the 5-star resort’s enchanting tradition.

In line with Shangri-La’s goal to a more sustainable tomorrow, repurposed wood from damages brought about by last year’s typhoon were reused as decorations, as the team turns grief into purpose.
“To honor everyone’s resilience, the team turns sorrow into something meaningful, as we reutilize damaged pieces brought about by Typhoon Odette. It is our ode to a Sustainable Christmas in Mactan, and it is a reminder to be grateful for today and hopeful for tomorrow.” said Dave Junker, General Manager.

Weaves of Hope : A CSR Initiative
To celebrate the season of giving, the resort has partnered with the Women’s Association of Basawon, a local community in Bantayan Island that weaves sustainable materials as part of their livelihood. Christmas ornaments weaved by strong and hopeful women are sold at the Front Desk, and proceeds of which will be donated for their cause, aspiring to curate a better tomorrow for their community.
