Other hotel outlets include Savoy Café, an all-day dining restaurant that serves local dishes with a twist. RMA News Team indulged in their Weekend Dinner Buffet last week as they showcased the diverse cuisines of Cebu.
We tried their Pinangat na Isda (steamed fish with ginger) best paired with their dilis fried rice which was the diners’ favorite as it was consumed immediately at their buffet stations. Other Cebuano flavors being served were Lechon Belly, Roasted Bulalo, Pares Mami, Pansit Bisaya, Mandunggo, Pinakbet with bagoong and chicharon, as well as local street foods like kwek-kwek, tempura, chorizo de Cebu, and pork barbecue. They also had a salad station, native Cebuano kakanin (local delicacies) for dessert, fruits, and many more.
When you dine at Savoy Café, they have this wooden QR Code on every table where you can find Savory Secret Dishes each month. They called it “Secret Menu” showcasing exclusive dishes “OFF THE MENU” with a rotating roster of guest chefs from a different field, each bringing their unique culinary perspectives and specialties to the table. Each month, guests can expect a new menu filled with innovative and delicious creations, featuring the best in local and international flavors. These dishes will only be available for a limited time, making each visit to Savoy Cafe a new and exciting culinary adventure.

During our dinner, we were introduced by their Group Director of Public Relations for Megaworld Hotels & Resorts Mr. Nico Ivan Velasquez who happened to be a Josenian. We had a common very close friend by the name of Dr. Milagros C. Espina, a great mentor of our time.

RMA News Team also got the chance to meet the other executives of the hotel, Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown Director of Sales Ms. Grethel Carmel Polloso with her Assistant Director Mr. Joaquin Quintana, and Digital Marketing Officer Mr. Brandon James Ormega. Though we haven’t met the General Manager of Savoy due to conflicting schedules, we knew already that GM Josef Victor Chiongbian is well-known in the hospitality industry. He is the current Vice President for Resorts of HRRACI (Hotel, Resort & Restaurant Association of Cebu Inc.) His extensive hospitality experience and involvement in various activities made him an asset to Megaworld Hotels and Resorts.
Another dining option you can try at Savoy is their Zabana Bar which is a perfect spot for thirst-quenching fresh juices to celebratory drinks. The bar features its signature Zabana rum and also serves an impressive range of unique signature cocktails from 6 am to 12 midnight.
The hotel was recognized by Sunstar Best of Cebu as the 2022 Best Ensaymada Awardee. We have tried it and the dough was very soft with so much filling and very cheesy. Grab it when you visit the hotel. It’s only Php135 per piece and is available for order at Savoy Café, Lobby Lounge, and Zabana by the beach.

Good news for fur parents out there as Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown is a pet-friendly establishment. Dogs and cats are permitted to stay in the hotel, but cannot be left unattended. There are designated areas provided for waste disposal. However, pets are not allowed in the swimming pool, fitness center, and hotel restaurants.
