Maria Inez Gomez, affectionately known as “Maia,” serves as the PR and Marketing Manager at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown. Her journey in the hospitality sector began unexpectedly in 2019 when she was recommended to a company with a hotel chain and theme parks. After nearly four years in the industry, Maia made the conscious decision to relocate to another country with her long-term partner. However, an enticing opportunity arose in June 2023 when she was offered a position at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown, ultimately leading her to stay in the Philippines due to the esteemed reputation of Megaworld Hotels and Resorts and her passion for the role.

Reflecting on her experience at Savoy Hotel, Maia finds the hospitality industry rewarding, “Working at Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown or in the hospitality industry in general made me a happier person because even at my lowest it motivates me to smile and keep going,” she notes giddily. She emphasizes how the industry teaches you to value positivity and how it impacts other people’s day, if not lives. She adds, “Working in Savoy Hotel Mactan Newtown is special because we as employees know for a fact that we are the blank canvas of every guest that enters our hotel. They get to create their own reality and add color to the canvas and we get to be a part of creating that colorful and vibrant experience for them that I’d like to call a masterpiece.”
