CEBU CITY – Hunat Sugbu, one of Cebu’s most anticipated fun runs is set for its 11th year on June 23, 2024 with the 5K, 12K and 21K categories with Robinsons Galleria as partner for the run’s starting and finish line venue.

“Hunat Sugbu-Dagan Para ni Maning” is close to our hearts because the core organizers of the event are all passionate runners. We hope to attract a maximum of 3,000 runners and this early, there are already nearly 2,000 registrants,” Parklane Hotels and Resorts COO, Cenelyn Manguilimotan-Dalnay bared in a press conference on March 22 at the Lumad Hall of the hotel.

Dalnay added that registration is online and there is still one more month to enlist because cut off for online registration is on May 23.  Hunat Sugbu is not only for health and fitness but it is also a run for a cause.  All run proceeds will go towards sponsoring medical missions and providing assistance to its partner barangay.

Last year’s run proceeds were all spent to its medical mission with more than 1,000 patients that needed minor surgeries and other needs plus their medicines.  The first Hunat Sugbo was on May 15, 2011 and the longest category then was 15K, Dalnay shared.

Hunat Sugbo’s reputation for promoting fitness and a sense of community spirit, the fun run has become a hallmark event on Cebu’s calendar. This year, there will be three categories: 5K, 12K, and 21K.  What makes this event truly exceptional is not only the exciting races but also the fantastic post-run activities that await all participants, Dalnay added.

After crossing the finish line, all runners are treated to a scrumptious breakfast buffet, crafted to replenish their energy and celebrate their achievement and chances to win exciting raffle prizes from the run’s generous event sponsors.

Dalnay, a former ultramarathoner herself, emphasizes that the passion for running and community engagement drive them to create an event that not only promotes physical wellness but also strengthens community bonds, adding that Hunat Sugbu transcends being merely a race, it becomes a celebration of shared values and aspirations.

The run serves as a celebration of camaraderie and good sportsmanship, while also contributing to Parklane Hotels and Resorts’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative.
