Seda Central Bloc Cebu commemorated its 5th anniversary on March 5, 2025, with a celebration at the Sinamay Function Hall. Themed Sidlak: 5 Years of Brilliance and Beyond, the evening paid tribute to the resilience, excellence, and dedication of the team that built and nurtured the hotel since its opening on February 12, 2020.
In Cebuano, sidlak means “to shine” or “to radiate brightness,” symbolizing progress, success, and a promising future. This embodies Seda Central Bloc Cebu’s journey, one of unwavering dedication, growth, and the enduring brilliance of its people.
Setting the tone for the night, guests were welcomed by the enchanting melodies of a live quartet, followed by a graceful waltz performance by the pre-opening team and department heads, symbolizing the journey of perseverance and triumph over the past five years.
General Manager Ron Manalang opened the celebration with an inspiring message, reflecting on Seda’s remarkable journey as a proudly Filipino hospitality brand. This was followed by a congratulatory video speech from George Aquino, President & CEO of AyalaLand Hospitality, who commended the team’s commitment to service and innovation rooted in genuine Filipino warmth and hospitality. A special highlight of the evening was the recognition of 12 pre-opening team members who have been with the hotel since day one, embodying loyalty and dedication.
Guests were treated to a meticulously curated dining experience, where each course symbolized a year of Seda’s growth. Accompanied by a 10-piece orchestra, the meal was paired with personal reflections from team members who played pivotal roles in the hotel’s success. Assistant Director of Human Resources Daryl Maye Getubig reminisced about Seda’s early days, while Ella Mayores (Front Office) and Kim Macapobre (Kitchen) shared stories of resilience during the pandemic. Sales Executives Julie Rule and Dianna McCarthy reflected on their personal milestones, and Director of Sales & Marketing Thrina De la Calzada spoke about the team’s journey to achieving excellence and industry recognition.
Gustavo Morales, COO of AyalaLand Hospitality, delivered a powerful message on Seda’s enduring vision and commitment to service excellence, emphasizing its role in elevating Filipino hospitality on a global scale. “Seda Central Bloc Cebu stands as a beacon of innovation, resilience, and hospitality. We look forward to the future with the same passion that brought us here today.”
