A wave of joy, faith, and festivity swept through Mandaue City on May 8 as residents and visitors gathered to celebrate the city’s fiesta in honor of St. Joseph. The Mandaue City Government staged a series of vibrant activities centered around the historic Mandaue Presidencia, transforming the heart of the city into a hub of celebration.

A major highlight of the day was the official unveiling of the new Clock Tower, situated beside the Mandaue Presidencia. In a brief ceremony, Mayor Glenn Bercede described the structure as a “lasting landmark,” a new symbol of pride for Mandauehanons and a welcoming beacon for visitors.

“The Clock Tower stands not just as a timepiece but as a testament to our enduring faith and unity,” said Mayor Bercede.

The Mandaue City Clock Tower, also known as the Presidencia Clock Tower, is a cultural landmark inspired by the historic Presidencia building, symbolizing Mandaue’s heritage, governance, and progress. Located at Heritage Plaza across from City Hall, the tower is built from steel and concrete to ensure durability, standing approximately 8 meters tall. It incorporates architectural elements reminiscent of the old Presidencia, blending Spanish-era aesthetics with modern touches.

Mandaue’s lighted pathway added a splash of color and wonder to evening strolls. Its interactive lights responded to movement, turning each step into a playful, delightful experience.

Adding to the sensory delight, the Mandaue Food Fair drew crowds with its wide selection of local delicacies and international treats.

The celebration also featured a surprise flash mob at the plaza, energizing onlookers with its spontaneous choreography and festive spirit. Music lovers were treated to a concert starring popular OPM bands Callalily and Sponge Cola, keeping spirits high well into the night.

A grand fireworks display lit up the Mandaue sky, leaving smiles on every face—a fitting tribute to the unity and joy that marked the day.
