Din Tai Fung Opens New Shop in Cebu, kicking off 10 years in the Philippines

As Din Tai Fung (DTF) celebrates 10 years of delighting diners in the Philippines, they’re headlining this milestone with a new shop opening in a major city. This July, the award-winning Taiwan-born restaurant brand brings its iconic Pork Xiaolongbao and other favorites to Cebuano diners as it opens its doors in SM City Cebu.

Din Tai Fung is a global franchise of The Moment Group, the F&B group behind homegrown brands like Manam, Ooma, 8Cuts, Mo’ Cookies, and Moment Catering. The Moment Group marks a major milestone as it ventures outside Luzon for the very first time, bringing five of its most loved restaurant brands to Cebu. Starting with the opening of Manam and Ooma this June 2025, Cebu is now home to a cluster of Moment shops, all located just steps away from one another.

“Having our brands open within days of each other and beside one another is something new and exciting for all of us. Our launching of the Moment Block, is our way of showing up for a new city with the full energy of who we are,” shares co-founder Abba Napa.

The Din Tai Fung Cebu shop features the same world-famous experience found in DTF shops all over the world. Diners can view their favorite Xiaolongbaos made in the XLB Kitchen, each one crafted with a precise 18 folds by trained shifus, xiaolongbao masters. The interiors feature a harmony of warm wood panels and the brand’s signature crimson tiles, with a dining capacity of 138 seats in the shop.

“We’ve always wanted to treat more diners to the kind of experience you only get at Din Tai Fung,” shares co-founder Eliza Antonino about Din Tai Fung and Moment’s arrival in Cebu. “As we bring the brand to a new city, we want to demonstrate what makes this brand beloved all over the world, with its dishes especially the xiaolongbao, and its unparalleled service.”

As Din Tai Fung celebrates a 10-year milestone and presence in a new territory, the brand hopes to bring joy to even more food lovers with its world-famous dining experience–through delicious dishes and world class service.

The world-famous xiaolongbao brand

Founded originally as a cooking oil shop in 1958 in Taiwan, Din Tai Fung reopened in the ‘70s as a restaurant specializing in xiaolongbao. These warm and delicate soup dumplings soon grew a devoted following, prompting the Taiwanese shop’s transition into a full-service establishment and later on, a global dining phenomenon.

Din Tai Fung is the world’s most widely recognized xiaolongbao brand, with 179 shops across 15 countries and numerous accolades under its belt. Its maiden shop along Xinyi Road in Taipei was named one of the top ten restaurants in the world by The New York Times, and the number one restaurant in Asia by The Daily Meal. Its xiaolongbao have been called “The World’s Greatest Dumplings” by Forbes magazine, and described as “small miracles” by Pulitzer Prize-winning food critic Jonathan Gold.
