Celebrating 50 Years of China-Philippines Relations

This year marks 50 years of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines, a milestone celebrated with cultural, sporting, and diplomatic events. These included Chinese Film Festivals, the Friendship Cup Badminton Tournament, and joint embassy events in both countries.

“Despite ups and downs, the past five decades have seen unprecedented people-to-people exchanges and win-win cooperation,” Consul Zhen said. “Our peoples are the foundation, the storytellers, and the future of this relationship.”

While acknowledging challenges, especially in the South China Sea, China emphasized that disputes should not define the bilateral relationship. “The key is not taking sides, but choosing cooperation over confrontation, and dialogue over conflict.”
