Hundreds of young leaders, innovators, and advocates gathered at SM Seaside City Cebu on August 8 for the Global Youth Summit (GYS) 2025, a nationwide initiative of SM Cares, the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls, in partnership with the Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Philippines.
The event brought together 568 participants from schools, organizations, and communities across Cebu to engage in inspiring discussions and collaborative activities that advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
This year’s program featured Cebu Bus Rapid Transit’s Project Manager Engr. Norvin Imbong, SEED4COM Executive Director Dann Diez, and Cebu City Councilor Michelle Abella-Cellona, who shared their experiences and insights on topics such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, Climate Action, and Good Health and Well-Being. Participants also enjoyed a performance from Angel Grace Mangaron, who was previously a Visayas contender for It’s Showtime’s “Tawag ng Tanghalan,” adding to the celebratory and empowering atmosphere of the event.
“Together with the Global Peace Foundation, we will continue to support events like this so that we could help young leaders like you to stay ahead and hopefully someday make real impact,” said Royston Cabuñag, Program Director for SM Cares’ Children and Youth Program.
“Beyond the Global Youth Summit, we’re providing platforms not only for young leaders, but also to educators and communities,” said Kier Aventurado, Program Director for Youth Development of Global Peace Foundation Philippines.
The Cebu leg of GYS 2025 is part of a series of summits held across 17 SM Malls nationwide, which started at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City. Each leg serves as a platform for young changemakers to network, learn from experts, and collaborate on projects that support the SDGs.
Hosted by Global Peace Foundation and SM Cares, the Global Youth Summit reflects the group’s ongoing commitment to empowering the next generation through education, engagement, and social good. This year’s summit invites young leaders and changemakers to a dynamic and inspiring platform—where collaboration and action take center stage, and a series of exciting, thoughtfully curated surprises await to elevate the experience and leave a lasting impact.
