DOH GIVES FREE TB SCREENING AND SERVICES TO MORE THAN 7,000 PEOPLE FROM 17 REGIONS

Under the leadership of the Department of Health (DOH) along with various organizations, a Nationwide Simultaneous Active Case Finding and other services were given to some 7,000 individuals from 17 regions who received free TB screening (Chest X-ray), Tuberculin Skin Test (TST), TB confirmatory testing (sputum testing), HIV testing and counselling and health education on Friday, August 29.

DOH aims to widen and accelerate the Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment (TPT) coverage which was proven to be effective protection against TB. TPT is usually given to: 1) A person who was exposed to a TB patient; 2) Persons Living with HIV; and 3) People who have different illnesses or low resistance.

According to the Integrated Tuberculosis Information System (ITIS), cases of Tuberculosis in the country have already reached 192,733 from January to June 2025.

DOH Secretary previously said that the agency aims to lower the number of people who are afflicted with TB in the Philippines until it becomes TB-free, the reason why it intensifies its anti-TB projects in various regions.
