PBBM announces ₱200-M aid for Cebu quake-hit towns

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has pledged more than ₱200 million in financial aid to Cebu Province and several northern towns hit by the 6.9-magnitude earthquake during his visit to Bogo City on Thursday, October 2, 2025..

The President made the announcement during a situational briefing with Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro and local officials.

Governor Baricuatro led Cebu officials in accompanying the President to Bogo City, where he checked on the victims of the quake. Marcos also went to the Yolanda Housing Village in Barangay Polambato, a relocation site for survivors of Supertyphoon Yolanda that was badly affected by the tremor. Reports confirmed that eight bodies were recovered from collapsed houses in the area.

Cebu Province will receive ₱50 million from the financial package, while the cities and municipalities of Bogo, San Remigio, and Sogod will each get ₱20 million. Medellin, Bantayan, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Santa Fe, Tabogon, and Tabuelan will each receive ₱10 million.

To ensure continuity of healthcare services, the President also allocated ₱5 million for each LGU-run hospital affected by the quake and ₱20 million for a Department of Health-owned hospital in the province.

The President was joined by Cabinet members, including DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco, Education Secretary Sonny Angara, and DSWD Secretary Rex Gatchalian.

Malacañang stressed that the aid package demonstrates the government’s commitment to provide immediate relief, speed up recovery, and help rebuild communities most affected by the disaster.

Governor Baricuatro expressed gratitude for the swift response and assured that the funds will be used to address urgent needs and support long-term rehabilitation.
