Prime Infra Foundation and Prime Waste Solutions (PWS) Cebu joined efforts to bring aid to 2,000 households affected by the recent magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Cebu.

On October 6, distribution of relief goods containing ready-to-eat food packs, noodles, and canned goods as well as drinking water were carried out across three barangays in the municipality of San Remigio.

The relief efforts covered 815 households in Barangay Luyang, 755 households in Barangay Victoria, and 430 households in Barangay Kinawahan.

Prime Infra conducted the initiative in coordination with the Cebu City local government led by Mayor Nestor Archival, the Cebu City police, and the Philippine Army. They were joined by volunteers from PWS, Cebu Water, and Barangay Binaliw residents.

The five-gallon bottles of drinking water were sourced from Manila Water Foundation, highlighting the coordinated efforts within the Prime Infra Group to support communities affected by the recent earthquake.

“Prime Infra Group’s relief operations reflect the true spirit ofbayanihan in the aftermath of the earthquake in Cebu,” Cara Peralta, Prime Infra’s Market Sector Lead for Waste, said.

“We wish to thank Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival for his support in Prime Infra’s relief efforts to assist affected communities,” she added.

The barangays conveyed their gratitude, saying that the relief operations provided much-needed assistance after the earthquake.

“On behalf of all the people of Barangay Kinawahan, we are grateful for the big help that Prime Infra extended, especially the drinking water, as this is our number one need,” Kinawahan barangay captain Albertine Tuñacao said.

“A big thank you to everyone who helped us. The donations we received are more than enough to supply our barangay,” Victoria barangay captain Edgar Montecalvo said.

“The donations received by the barangay are not enough to cover all households, that’s why I am very much grateful to everyone who helped,” Luyang barangay captain Hermenia Dahuya said.

Aside from delivering aid to earthquake victims, Prime Infra Foundation and PWS Cebu also distributed relief packs with rice, canned goods, and toiletries to residents of Barangay Binaliw who were affected by flooding caused by recent heavy rains.

Prime Infra has presence in the province through PWS Cebu, which operates a materials recovery facility in Barangay Binaliw, processing up to 1,000 tons of municipal solid waste daily.

On the other hand, Manila Water operates in Cebu through Cebu Water, a subsidiary of Manila Water Philippine Ventures.
