Cebu Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro led the official launch of Cebu’s first-ever Mobile Kitchen on October 14, 2025, a project designed to provide warm, nutritious meals to communities in need across the province.
The Mobile Kitchen is a proactive response to Governor Baricuatro’s long-standing advocacy for food security, especially in times of crisis. A core principle she has championed through the Simply Share Foundation, the initiative underscores the Capitol’s commitment to ensuring that no Cebuano goes hungry.
“By now, you know how food security is so close to my heart,” said Gov. Baricuatro during the launch. “We meant being ready — to feed, to serve, and to care. This is the realization of a dream and a promise — to bring fresh meals, comfort, and hope to every Cebuano.”
Designed for dual-purpose use, the Mobile Kitchen serves both emergency response operations and everyday community needs. It is equipped to: Deliver hot meals during natural disasters and emergencies; Support feeding programs in daycare centers and underserved communities; and Promote dignity, health, and learning through proper nutrition.
The initiative gained added urgency following the recent 6.9 magnitude earthquake that impacted parts of Cebu. The Mobile Kitchen ensures timely delivery of nutritious food to displaced families and communities in distress.
“This is the first Mobile Kitchen in the province,” said Ms. Marirose Lopez, Head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO). “It came at a very crucial time, right after the earthquake — ensuring that affected families receive hot and nutritious meals when they need them most.”
The project was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the Office of the Provincial Administrator, and will be operated by the PSWDO.
