Governor Pamela Baricuatro met with the officers and members of the Provincial Youth Development Council (PYDC) during a pre-convening meeting held at the Capitol Social Hall on October 16, where she formally unveiled her 8-Point Youth Development Agenda for the young people of Cebu.
The event gathered representatives from 15 registered youth and youth-serving organizations from across the province, marking a significant milestone in the full activation of the PYDC as a dynamic and participatory body in local youth governance.
“I am here para ninyo—to pave the way for a better future for Cebu, para ang inyong umaabot nga generation dili ma-experience ang kalisod ug ang kawad-on nga na-experience karon,” Governor Baricuatro said in her address to the youth leaders.
The PYDC is a multi-sectoral youth council composed of youth leaders and organizations, and is chaired by the SK Pederasyon President. It serves as the province’s primary consultative body on youth affairs and development.
Introducing the 8-Point Youth Development Agenda
The agenda was presented by Marven Gorgonio, the Capitol’s pro-bono consultant on youth affairs. It outlines eight key programs that reflect the provincial government’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded, empowered, and future-ready youth:
Cebuano Youth Wellness – Prioritizing mental, physical, and reproductive health, and overall well-being.
NegosYouth – Promoting youth entrepreneurship, financial literacy, and economic self-reliance.
GreenGen: Youth for a Greener Cebu – Advocating for environmental sustainability and climate action.
Kabataan Techie – Advancing digital empowerment, responsible use of technology, and AI literacy.
SugBuhat & Turismo Kabataan – Encouraging youth innovation and participation in local culture and tourism.
eSKwela – Supporting academic excellence and access to inclusive, quality education.
SportsKabataan – Fostering sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork through sports development.
Youth in Governance – Promoting leadership, civic engagement, and good governance practices.
Governor Baricuatro emphasized that these programs are designed not only to develop individual youth potential but also to instill a deep sense of public service and leadership.
“Akong dream is mapa-inherit ninyo ang commitment on good governance through the PYDC so that the province will have more good leaders in the future,” she said.
The Provincial Youth Development Council is expected to play a central role in the implementation and localization of these programs in various towns and cities across Cebu Province. (Photos: Cebu Province)
