Gov. Pam Leads Tribute to Cebu’s Elderly

Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro paid tribute to Cebu’s senior citizens, calling them the “living testaments of strength” and “keepers of Cebuano wisdom” during the National Celebration of Elderly Filipino Week 2025 held at the Capitol Social Hall on Thursday, October 30.

The governor administered the oath-taking of the new Cebu OSCA (Office of Senior Citizens Affairs) Heads Association during the event, which was organized by the National Commission of Senior Citizens – Region 7.

In her keynote address, Gov. Baricuatro underscored the invaluable role of the elderly in shaping Cebu’s resilience and community spirit.

“Our elderly — our lolos and lolas — are living testaments of that strength. You are our storytellers, our teachers, and the keepers of our wisdom as Cebuanos,” she said.

“When we speak of preparedness and resilience, we are really talking about the lessons you taught us — to stay calm in crisis, to care for one another, and to always look forward with hope,” the governor added.

The ceremony highlighted the provincial government’s continuing commitment to protect, empower, and value Cebu’s senior citizens, recognizing their enduring contribution to the province’s growth and cultural heritage.
