When Typhoon Tino swept through Cebu, leaving communities in its wake, the resilient Cebuano spirit of “Bayanihan” once again rose above the storm.

From November 6–9, 2025, Task Force Padayon Cebu, composed of the Cebu business community and partner organizations, led a three-day relief operation that brought essential aid, comfort, and hope to families hardest hit by the typhoon.

All food packs distributed during the operation were generously provided by SM Foundation, Inc., complemented by loaf breads from Conching Food Industries. Other essential items came from dedicated partners: trapals and ropes, as well as water filters for Villa del Rio, were provided by the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI); 100 blankets from Golden Prince Hotel and Suites; and slippers, towels, and bath robes from Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan, offering warmth, comfort, and dignity to families displaced by the storm.

Day 1 (November 6) began with the turnover of 10 IBC tanks to the City Government of Lapu-Lapu, courtesy of Treasure Island Corporation, to ensure clean and accessible water for affected communities in the islets of Lapu-Lapu City.

Day 2 (November 8) focused on Consolacion, where the task force donated 10 IBC tanks from Carmen Copper Corporation, 1,500 food packs from SM Foundation, 50 pieces of 6×10 ft trapals with ropes, and 100 blankets from Golden Prince Hotel and Suites. The task force also delivered 600 food packs, blankets, slippers, towels, and bath robes to the Cebu City Government, with additional comfort items generously provided by Crimson Resort and Spa Mactan.

Day 3 (November 9) extended relief to Cebu City (particularly Villa del Rio in Barangay Bacayan), Talisay City (Mojon and Población), and the Municipality of Compostela (Tamiao Uno, Dos, and Tres), where 1,370 additional food packs and 1,000 loaf breads were distributed. Water filters were given to Villa del Rio to ensure safe drinking water for families in need.

Food pack distribution breakdown:

Consolacion: 1,500 packs

Cebu City: 600 packs

Talisay City, Compostela, and Villa del Rio: 1,370 packs

Before the Compostela distribution, CCCI conducted a rapid needs assessment to identify the hardest-hit areas. The findings highlighted Barangay Tamiao Dos as a priority zone, allowing for a targeted and efficient response.

The mission’s success was further supported by the generosity of Lalamove, Decoline, and RDAK, whose transport assistance ensured that every relief item reached families despite challenging road conditions.

Adding inspiration and youthful energy, BINI’s Aiah and Colet, members of the Filipino girl group BINI, joined the operations on Day 3, alongside other youth leaders and influencers. Their presence brought encouragement, smiles, and a powerful reminder of the role of young leadership, compassion, and community service.

Task Force Padayon Cebu will continue its relief efforts, with another round of aid scheduled for November 12 in Danao City, reaching more families still recovering from Typhoon Tino’s impact.

“In moments of adversity, the Cebuano heart always beats as one,” said CCCI President Jay Yuvallos. “Through unity and compassion, we rise stronger together.”

This initiative reflects the task force’s unwavering commitment not only to advancing Cebu’s business growth but also to uplifting communities and nurturing the resilient spirit that defines every Cebuano.
