As part of its commitment to creating shared value and fostering inclusive community development, SM Supermalls successfully donated over 3,400 books to public libraries across Cebu through its Book Donation Drive, an initiative that underscores SM’s continued support for education and literacy.
Launched in celebration of SM Supermalls’ 40th anniversary, the Book Donation Drive gathered a total of 3,455 books through the collective participation of mallgoers from SM City Cebu, SM City Consolacion, SM Seaside City Cebu, and SM J Mall. The initiative reflects SM’s advocacy for education as a key pillar of sustainable communities and a powerful tool for social inclusion.
The nationwide SM Book Nook Book Donation Drive is led by SM Book Nook, SM Supermalls’ flagship literacy program under SM Cares, its corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform. Carrying the theme “Under the Same Sky: Share the Magic of Stories,” the program encourages mallgoers to give new life to pre-loved books, helping spark the joy of reading while expanding access to learning resources.
On October 30, 2025, SM City Cebu donated 1,163 books to the Cebu City Public Library, while SM City Consolacion contributed 1,251 books to the Bogo City Public Library and Museum, enhancing access to reading materials for students, educators, and community members.
Extending the reach of the program beyond Metro Cebu, SM Seaside City Cebu donated 220 books to the Toledo City Public Library on December 11, 2025, supporting literacy efforts in neighboring cities. Most recently, SM J Mall completed its donation on December 16, 2025, providing 821 books to the Mandaue City Public Library in support of local learning initiatives.
The donated collection, comprising children’s books, young adult titles, fiction and nonfiction works, educational references, graphic novels, and publications by Filipino authors, reflects the shared commitment of SM Supermalls and SM Book Nook to promote lifelong learning, cultural enrichment, and inclusive access to knowledge.
Through the SM Book Nook Book Donation Drive, SM Supermalls integrates sustainability into everyday mall experiences, empowering communities, strengthening public institutions, and creating meaningful, long-term impact — one book, one reader, and one shared story at a time.
