Cherry blossoms arrive in Cebu as SM J Mall brings spring with Sakura Fest 2026, an immersive celebration inspired by Japan’s celebrated sakura season.

SM J Mall transforms The Atrium at the Upper Ground Level into a pink-hued escape from February 27 to March 15, 2026. The festival brings together cascading blossoms, curated Japanese brands, and cultural experiences in a vibrant, interactive celebration that blends timeless Japanese elements with modern flavors, crafts, and pop culture favorites.

Sakura Fest officially launched on February 27, 2026, with an exclusive first-look event for media and content creators, who were given early access to the installations, brand showcases, and specialty offerings. The launch was also graced by Consul-General of Japan in Cebu, Yudai UENO, highlighting the cultural significance of the festival. Following this private preview, Sakura Fest opened to the public later that same day.

At the heart of the festival is the Sakura Dream Dome, a captivating floral centerpiece that lights up daily at 2 PM, 4 PM, and 7 PM, casting a soft pink glow across the venue. Guests can also take part in the Sakura Wish Tree, penning heartfelt messages beneath cascading blossoms—a nod to the reflective spirit of sakura season.

This year’s Sakura Fest features a thoughtfully curated lineup of brands showcasing Japanese flavors, crafts, and pop culture influences, including Anime Lane, Bakeology, Rampa Beads Bar, Celso’s Crib, Okawari, The Puff Bakery, Say Cheese, Sushi Star, and Tsuki Gyoza. From anime finds and customizable beaded keepsakes to Sakura-themed pastries, the viral ten yen coin treat, tanghulu and mochi, Japanese curry puff pies and tarts, sushi, and both savory and dessert gyoza, each concept adds its own petal to the full-bloom experience.

Pink, playful, and delicious treats from participating booths bring Japan’s flavors to Sakura Fest.

Beyond its retail and culinary highlights, the festival also serves as a cultural playground. The Kimono Meet on March 8 celebrates Japanese fashion and tradition, while Pause & Paint: Petals & Perspectives on March 14 invites guests to explore creativity inspired by the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms.
