The Cebu Provincial Government under the leadership of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro has extended full backing to the Cebu Province delegation competing in the upcoming Batang Pinoy 2025 National Championships in General Santos City slated on October 25 to 31, 2025.

Last September 17, the athletes, coaches, and teachers of the Cebu Province delegation gathered at the Capitol for a formal meet-and-greet with Governor Baricuatro. The event marked the first time in six years that the province has provided full logistical and moral support to its Batang Pinoy athletes.

“I know you will compete in Batang Pinoy in General Santos, but I also know that you are going there like Batang Cebu,” said Gov. Baricuatro, encouraging the athletes. “Do your best and make Cebu proud.”

A total of 10 sporting events will feature Cebuano athletes, including arnis, badminton, basketball, chess, karatedo, futsal, sepak takraw, beach volleyball, dance sports, and for the first time, gymnastics. The delegation, composed of athletes aged 12 to 17, is set to depart for General Santos on October 21.

Glenda Tatuy, head of the Cebu Province delegation, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the renewed support, particularly noting the team’s unified look.

“For the first time in six years, our athletes will wear uniforms of the same color. This may seem simple, but it fosters a strong sense of unity and pride,” Tatuy shared.

In a further gesture of encouragement, Governor Baricuatro announced that athletes who bring home gold medals will receive incentives from the province.

With strong institutional support and a renewed sense of pride, the Cebu Province delegation enters this year’s Batang Pinoy with heightened determination and the shared goal of bringing honor to the province. (Photos: Cebu Province)
