The Cebu Provincial Government, under the leadership of Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro, has officially launched its first-ever Sea Ambulance, a groundbreaking project that aims to significantly strengthen emergency medical services in the province, especially for island and coastal communities.
The Sea Ambulance, acquired through the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), marks a historic step in Cebu’s commitment to providing timely and life-saving emergency response to Cebuanos in geographically isolated areas. This initiative fulfills a core component of Governor Baricuatro’s advocacy for “Serbisyong paspas, serbisyong makatao.”
“No Cebuano should be left behind in times of emergency,” said Governor Baricuatro during the official turnover. “This Sea Ambulance ensures that residents in our island municipalities can access urgent medical care without delay.”
Equipped with essential medical tools and manned by trained personnel, the Sea Ambulance will serve as a vital link between remote areas and the province’s hospitals, enhancing response times and saving lives.
In a parallel effort to bolster livelihood and coastal resilience, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) turned over two fishing boats to the Cebu Provincial Government. These were subsequently distributed to the municipalities of Danao City and Medellin, supporting the livelihood of local fisherfolk and strengthening the province’s post-disaster recovery initiatives.
