In response to the recent 6.9-magnitude earthquake that struck northern Cebu on September 30, the Cebu Provincial Government will provide mobile “smart offices” to six affected local government units (LGUs) whose municipal and city halls sustained heavy damage.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro announced during a press briefing on October 8 that the Provincial Government will deploy temporary mobile office units to ensure continuity of essential public services in the affected areas.

The LGUs set to receive support include: Bogo City, San Remigio, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabogon and Borbon.

Each LGU will receive two 20-foot mobile office vans, equipped with air conditioning and comfort rooms, enabling local officials, including mayors and administrative staff, to operate immediately despite damaged infrastructure.

“The Provincial Government will provide mobile offices for them, at least duha ka 20-footer van each municipality para right away naa silay magamit nga office,” Gov. Baricuatro stated.

The smart office units are expected to be delivered by the end of this week or early next week, depending on logistical coordination.

This initiative underscores the Capitol’s commitment to disaster response and public service continuity, ensuring that communities continue to receive vital services even in the aftermath of natural calamities. (Photo: Cebu Province)
