Wellness seekers in Cebu can now experience the traditional Moroccan Bath or Hammam with the opening of Oliva Massage & Spa at One Tree Plaza, Banawa. The newly opened spa offers a range of massage and wellness treatments, combining time-honored rituals with modern relaxation practices.
Oliva Massage & Spa is owned by Ms. Joan Houran, a former spa and beauty salon owner in Dubai, who introduced the Moroccan Bath to Cebu to give locals access to an internationally recognized wellness tradition.
“I brought Oliva to Cebu so Cebuanos can experience the Moroccan Bath, which is a combination of Roman, Turkish, and Moroccan bathing traditions,” Houran said. “The process starts with a 10- to 15-minute steam bath, followed by exfoliation using Moroccan soap. Afterward, guests receive a one-hour body massage using heated olive oil to lock in moisture. It’s very healing and deeply hydrating for the skin.”
The Moroccan Bath is a steam-based cleansing ritual that involves soaping, exfoliation, and full-body massage using olive or argan oil. According to spa specialists, the treatment helps remove dead skin cells, detoxify the body, improve blood circulation, and enhance skin radiance. The heat and steam also promote muscle relaxation, stress relief, and respiratory benefits.
Houran said the goal of opening Oliva Massage & Spa in Cebu is to make luxury wellness experiences more accessible.
“I want my fellow Cebuanos to enjoy this kind of luxurious relaxation,” she added. “It’s premium but still practical and not overly expensive.”
Aside from its signature Moroccan Bath, Oliva Massage & Spa offers a variety of wellness services including Hot Olive Oil Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Swedish Massage, Traditional Hilot, Aroma Massage, Dry Massage, Lymphatic Massage, and Foot Massage.
