In a meaningful celebration of milestones and media partnerships, Seda Central Bloc Cebu marked its 6th anniversary with a special media appreciation soirée titled “Growing Together: 6 Years Anniversary Soirée” held at its 17th floor poolside. The intimate gathering brought together both longtime and new media partners who have been instrumental in telling the hotel’s story since its opening.
Over the past six years, the property has grown not only in scale and recognition but also in its commitment to sustainability. From opening its doors just before a challenging global period to steadily evolving into a forward-thinking urban hotel, the anniversary celebration served as a reflection of its journey and a reaffirmation of its vision for responsible and sustainable hospitality.

Seda Hotels’ Cluster General Manager Ron Manalang
The program began with the introduction of the expanded role of Ron Manalang as Cluster General Manager for both Seda Cebu properties. His continued growth with the brand and deep expertise in the industry have made this transition both natural and seamless, reflecting the organization’s commitment to nurturing leadership from within.

“As I look back, we have accomplished a lot for Seda Central Bloc Cebu, and I would like to sincerely thank our media partners for being with us throughout the past six years,” said Ron Manalang, Cluster General Manager, as he welcomed the guests for the evening. “The journey was not easy — we opened the property just before the pandemic, and faced challenges such as typhoons and earthquakes. Yet, through it all, we persevered because of the resilience and dedication of our team, the men and women of Central Bloc.”

Edge Advance Certification, first in Cebu City, unveiled by Cluster General Manager Ron Manalang and Chief Engineer Alfie Dalapo
Another key highlight of the evening was the recognition of the hotel’s EDGE Advanced Certification, a distinguished milestone that reinforces its leadership in sustainable hospitality. Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank Group, providing a credible and measurable standard for green building performance.

In December 2025, Seda Central Bloc Cebu officially earned the EDGE Advanced Certification, becoming the first hotel in Cebu to attain this level under the EDGE framework. The certification process was rigorous and comprehensive, requiring extensive documentation, multiple audits, and compliance across 28 sustainability measures led by the hotel’s Engineering Team. The property achieved outstanding benchmarks, including 43% energy savings, 24% water savings, and a 60% reduction in embodied carbon in materials—demonstrating strong alignment with Ayala Land’s group-wide commitment to achieving EDGE Zero Carbon by 2026.

Supporting its farm-to-table efforts, the greenhouse supplies select herbs and fresh produce used in culinary offerings, including the evening’s highlighted salad station—symbolizing how sustainability is thoughtfully integrated into daily operations and guest experiences.
