DOC YONG LARRAZABAL CONQUERED THIS YEAR’s WORLD MARATHON CHALLENGE

Cebu Doctors’ Group of Hospitals President and Chairman of the Board Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal lll is the first-ever Filipino to compete and finish the World Marathon Challenge in 7 continents with 7 Marathons in 7 days.

The World Marathon Challenge is the only annual event that offers the opportunity to run 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. The first marathon occurred within the Antarctic Circle on mainland Antarctica and the final marathon took place in Miami, North America held last February 6-12, 2020.

The global route was Novo (Antarctica), Cape Town (Africa), Perth (Australia), Dubai (Asia), Madrid (Europe), Fortaleza (South America) and Miami (North America).

After the initial marathon in Antarctica, competitors flew by charter plane to every marathon location around the globe.

Successful participants are recognized by the Intercontinental Marathon Club, which provides the definitive list of people who have run 7 marathons on 7 continents within 7 days.

Participants ran 295 km (183 miles) over the seven-day period and spent about 68 hours in the air.
