The members of the newly-formed Cebu Online News Press Corps showcased their athletic side in the Cebu Press Freedom Week (CPFW) Invitational Mixed Volleyball Tournament 2022 held at the University of San Carlos (USC)-Main gym yesterday.

Composed of content creators, journalists, bloggers and social media influencers from different platforms, the Cebu Online News Press Corps is born out of their common desire to create an organization where they can establish a solid network among their fellow content creators and social media influencers in Metro Cebu as well as provide an avenue for developmental programs to enhance their individual skills and professionalism.

The group aims to promote responsible use of both social media and traditional media through the sharing of accurate information. It envisions to provide through social media, websites and the like only factual and verified information.

Under the banner of Digital Smashers, the Cebu Online News Press Corps will be going up against The Freeman/Banat News, GMA-7/DYSS, SunStar, DYHP, and News Sources in the volleyball tourney organized by the Cebu Media Volleyball Club as part of the 2022 Cebu Press Freedom Week celebration.

They will play a single round robin in the elimination that will run for two weekends. The top four qualifiers will advance to the crossover semifinals. The winners will then fight it out for championship, which is a best-of-two affair.
